| Meeting and working with people; seeing players grow their game, including the ups & downs of Netball, & watching them achieve their goals |
| Who has influenced your coaching most, and why? |
Previous representative coaches - I followed what I'd learned in terms of their style & approach. Mentors - these people are a 'must-have' if you want to grow as a coach and as a person. |
| What's the best or most exciting coaching experience you've had? |
It's always exciting (and a relief) to win at national championships. Some of my most significant coaching experiences have been when we've lost championships and you have to stand up, brush yourself off & go again - makes you a better person and coach.

Coach Netball

So you want to coach netball? Congratulations! Don't know where to start? You've come to the right place!
 STEP 1 - if you are brand new to coaching and want to learn the basics, begin with the online Taking off into Netball Coaching - a Starter Pack for New Coaches (in association with SPARC) - it's free, interactive and takes 30-40 minutes to complete.
STEP 2 - If you've already begun coaching a team, at any level from Fun Ferns to Senior, and need information on training activities, tactics and rules, visit our free, online Netball Coaching Toolkit (in association with Fisher & Paykel).
STEP 3 - Contact the Netball New Zealand Regional Office responsible for netball in your area - they can direct you to clubs, CoachForce co-ordinators, workshops and other local resources for coaches.
STEP 4 - Check out Netball New Zealand's Coaching Modules & Resources - starting with the Coach Development Framework Overview and the Guide to Modules.
STEP 5 - Check the Workshops for Coaches and book in for the next Starting Out in Coaching and Player Centred Coaching modules to be held in your area.
STEP 6 - Contact your region's CoachForce coach (there are four, covering all 12 Netball New Zealand regions) and ask for advice and guidance about your specific needs and goals.

CoachForce
 Netball New Zealand's CoachForce, funded by the New Zealand Community Trust, provides support & development for netball coaches at every level and in every region of New Zealand.
Led by Talent Development Director Leigh Gibbs, the four national CoachForce coaches are Adrienne Morrin (Auckland), Ivy Topping (Taranaki), Sue Harris (Canterbury) and Noeline Scott (Otago). All four currently coach netball at school, club, age group and/or national levels.
They work in their own regions, but also move around the country presenting & facilitating Coach Development Framework Modules & other workshops in conjunction with the twelve Netball New Zealand regions. They also work closely with eight Regional CoachForce coaches (scroll down for contact details).
Netball New Zealand CoachForce is responsible for:
- writing, compiling & updating material for Netball New Zealand's free online coaching tools,
Taking off into Netball Coaching & Coaching Toolkit.
- organising & presenting Workshops for Coaches around New Zealand
- training Starting Out in Coaching course facilitators
