
Two prestigious Awards were presented at AMI Auckland Netball’s 2011 AGM last night, held in Auckland.
The AMI Auckland Netball Awards recognises individuals that have made a significant contribution to netball, and it was a pleasure to award Life Membership to Raewyn Henry for her outstanding contribution to netball and Pam Pennell for her commitment to umpiring.

RAEWYN HENRY - LIFE MEMBERSHIP

Raewyn started playing netball at 8 years old in Christchurch; she moved to Auckland in 1973 and continued playing until the end of the 2009 season – a total of 36 years of netball.
Raewyn’s teaching career spans 16 years, 2 years in Christchurch and when she moved to Auckland she worked for Baradene College, Kelston Boys High School and Pakuranga College. During her time at Baradene she coached the premier team while also being the Netball Co-ordinator for the school from 1989 – 1998 (11 years).
Raewyn also coached the Carlton Netball club Premier 2 team and then the Premier 1 team before she departed to Wales for 4 years in 1999. Upon her return from Wales in 2004 Raewyn coached St Mary’s Premier netball team until 2005.
Raewyn simultaneously coached Carlton Netball’s Premier 2 team until 2006 then took over the Premier 1 team until the end of the 2011 season.
Raewyn is currently on the NAW Management Committee and the Mystics board. With these roles she is heavily involved with mentoring the future of the franchise and entity’s netball talent.
Raewyn played club Netball for Carlton Netball Club, formerly known as Extons and Grammar. Raewyn has been an active committee member of the Carlton Netball club since 1980 and is still an integral part of the committee, mentoring coaches, supporting the committee with initiatives and their implementation and selection around trials and team levels.
PAM PENNELL - SERVICE AWARD

Pam is a valued umpire having umpired at Auckland Netball Centre for a total of 16 years.
Pam runs the umpire centre badge theory classes and is a great mentor for our young umpires coming through the centre. Pam also organises our representative umpires.
Pam is someone you can rely on at any time and willingly gives her time back to Netball.
