Kay McIntyre receives Queen's Service Medal

AMI Auckland Netball is very proud to see one of our members , Kay McIntyre,  awarded a Queen’s Service Medal in the recent New Year’ s Honours list.

Kay has had a long involvement with netball in New Zealand for over 40 years, and since 2000 been a project manager for the development of the Auckland Netball Centre at St John’s, Auckland.

Kay has  a wonderful ability to future proof ideas and is a very clear strategic thinker assisting many netball centres with strategic advice that in turn grow participation levels.

Her commitment to providing first class facilities for women’s sport is evident in the time she gives her work, her determination to research new technologies and options and her professional interactions with funding agencies.  She is well respected by the funders, by the Auckland City Council staff and councillors and by the contractors who have completed the major construction and development projects.

She has given grassroots communities the benefits of wonderful facilities and playing services and extremely deserving of this award.

It was also a real pleasure to see Raewyn Henry, wife of newly knighted Graham Henry become Raewyn Lady Henry.  With Graham’s contribution to New Zealand Rugby and coaching the All Blacks to World Cup victory Graham will officially become a “Sir” with the ceremony date to be confirmed around early May.

Graham said “When you are involved in a team sport it is a lot of people who produce the results, not just one person”.  Clearly, one of those being his wife Raewyn who has been a rock during Graeme’s tenure as All Black coach.
