nz secondary schools - 201120 years ago, six teams battled it out for secondary school supremacy in the first ever NZ Secondary School Netball Championships... In 2012, 16 teams will come together at SBS Events Centre in Timaru from the 9th-12th October to play for pride, passion and that elusive right to be called New Zealand's top Netballing secondary school.

Two teams have qualified for their first appearance at the NZ Secondary School Netball Championships; Trident High Schoool from Whakatane and Baradene College from Auckland Central.

Also for the first time, the NZ Secondary Schools Netball Championships will have LIVE scoring on the Netball New Zealand website so parents and friends can keep up to date with stats, lineups and results as it happens!

The championships consist of six teams from Upper North Island Secondary Schools (UNISS) and five teams from both Lower North Island Secondary Schools (LNISS) and South Island Secondary Schools (SISS)

Upper North
Mount Albert Grammar School – 2011 Runners Up / 9th consecutive attendance
Avondale College – previous winners in 2000 and 2002
Baradene College – first time attendees
Trident High School – first time attendees
Westlake Girls High School
Waikato Diocesan – first time in the event since 1996 when they were the winners.

Lower North Island
Tu Toa – 2011 Champions / 8th consecutive attendance
Wellington East Girls High School
St Marys College(Wellington)
Sacred Heart College (Lower Hutt)
Palmerston North Girls High School – 10th time attending

South Island
Waimea College
Marian College
Craighead Diocesan – 7th time attending
Marlborough Girls High School
St Margaret’s College
