The Silver Ferns led from the start and built on their lead in every quarter to beat Samoa who finish pool play without a win from their 5 games.  It was another new look line up for the Silver Ferns with Anna Thompson and Irene van Dyk playing out the whole game in the shooting circle.  Larrissa Willcox earned her first start at the World Netball Series for the Silver Ferns at GD and her tenacious defense in combination with Katrina Grant earned Willcox the Player of the Match award.

Wendy Telfer at C and Liana Barrett Chase at WA combined well in the midcourt to pressure the Samoans attack and worked together on attack to find van Dyk and Thompson with ease in the circle.

The Samoan team drew the last quarter with the Silver Ferns thanks to their power play.  Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken chose not to use the flexible subbing and kept with the same line throughout the match, resting the more experienced midcourt combination of Laura Langman and Temepara George.
