The Pulse have 4 new players in their 2011 ANZ Championship team; Amber Bellringer, Victoria Smith, Caitlin Thwaites & Jade Topia. Cushla Lichtwark is the only remaining player from the Pulse's inaugural (2008) ANZ Championship team who has played in all three previous seasons. The Pulse won just their second ANZ Championship match in 2010 when they defeated the Tactix 45-43 in Round 10 in Wellington. The Pulse's first ANZ Championship win was in Round 13, 2009 against the Swifts (53-52) in Porirua. The Pulse despite winning just one ANZ Championship match in 2010 recorded their highest season ending finish with 9th place after the minor round. The Pulse were on level on premiership points with the Tactix but edged ahead of the Cantabs on goal percentage. Caitlin Thwaites who joins the Pulse from the Vixens is a 2009 ANZ Championship premiership player. Thwaites helped guide the Vixens to the title in 2009 with her 476 goals coming at 84pc accuracy. The Pulse has just one 2010 Silver Ferns player, Katrina Grant. Victoria Smith joins the Pulse after three seasons with the Tactix. Smith returns to the Capital where she played three seasons (2005-2007) for the Capital Shakers in the National Bank Cup. Amber Bellringer returns to the Pulse after a two year absence. Bellringer was a member of the Pulse's inaugural ANZ Championship team in 2008. Jade Topia joins her third ANZ Championship team in 2011. Topia played for the Mystics in 2008 and the Steel in 2009 & 2010.
