Silver Ferns

Williams was selected for the Silver Ferns squad in 2004, and the following year made her test debut against Barbados in the Caribbean. She was part of the NZU21 team which won the 2005 World Youth Championship and won gold with the Silver Ferns at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Williams was officially announced as the 23rd captain of the Silver Ferns on 27 July 2009, and her first match in that role was on 24 August 2009 at the TSB Bank Arena, Wellington, against the World 7.

Her first win as Silver Ferns Captain came in the 3rd Test v the World 7, on 29 August 2009, at The Trusts Stadium Arena, Auckland. Her first victory as Captain against the Australian Diamonds was in the 1st Test of the 2009 Holden Netball Test Series, on 6 September at Acer Arena, Sydney.

Her first international championship success as captain came in the new-format FastNet game, when she led the Silver Ferns to victory in the inaugural World Netball Series, held in Manchester, England, in October 2009. The second and most significant international championship win to date in which Williams was Captain was the Commonwealth Games gold medal victory in Delhi, 2010.

Williams plays at both goal defence & goal keep.
