After three seasons on the Silver Ferns squad, Griffin is still its second-youngest member - young enough to captain the NZ Under-21 team which finished second in the 2009 World Youth Championships.
Paula scored 374 goals for Central Pulse in the 2009 ANZ Championship, placing her among the competition's top ten shooters by volume, and in the top 20 by accuracy, with a season-end figure of 79.5 per cent. Her outstanding performance to shoot 35 goals from 39 attempts (90%) was a key factor in Pulse's historic defeat of NSW Swifts in Round 13.
Paula played seven matches for Northern Mystics in the 2008 ANZ Championship, averaging better than 19 goals a game and achieving a season-high strike rate of 88% against Tactix in Round 9.
Griffin joined the Silver Ferns squad in September 2006. Her hard work and rapid development was rewarded with a call-up to the team for the Silver Ferns tour to England in May 2007, followed two months later by her on-court debut against Jamaica.
Playing at goal attack alongside Irene van Dyk, she made the Silver Ferns starting line-up for the first time in the 3rd Test against the World 7 on 29 August 2009; followed by the 3rd Holden Test against Australia on 13 September 2009, and the 1st Test of the New World International Series against Australia on 20 September 2009.
Griffin's final appearance for 2009 was in the high-pressure 4th quarter of the 2nd Test against Jamaica on 22 October. In that match she replaced van Dyk at goal shoot and made nine of 11 shots for 82% accuracy.
